Elina Svitolina will not play in tournaments in Madrid and Rome
Former third-ranked Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has withdrawn from two WTA-1000 tournaments on the ground – in Madrid (Spain) and Rome (Italy).
Svitolina played her last match on March 24, Elina lost in the second round of the tournament in Miami (USA) to British Heather Watson 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (4-7). After that, the Ukrainian said that she intended to take a break in her performance.
The competition in Madrid will also miss the third racket of the world Czech Barbora Krejčíková. The tennis player is bothered by discomfort in the elbow because of which she has not played since February 23. Due to the lack of matches the Czech has already lost the second position in the WTA ranking.
The tournament in Madrid will be held from April 28 to May 7, in Rome – 9 to 15 May. Last season the title was won by Arina Sobolenko of Belarus in Spain and Iga Swiatek of Poland in Italy.
