The Supernovas won the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022, defeating Velocity
On Saturday, Supernovas defeated Velocity by four runs in the final of the 2022 Women’s T20 Challenge at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
Deandra Dottin, who scored 62 runs off 44 balls in the first innings before grabbing a pair of important wickets with the ball in hand in the second innings, guided the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team to their third Women’s T20 Challenge victory in four seasons. Dottin was ecstatic with her ‘Player of the Match’ performance, since she was also named ‘Player of the Tournament.
“She said,” she explained. “It’s a dream come true to be a part of this event.” The level of experience is excellent. You come here to learn from other players, bond with your teammates, and absorb information from a variety of personalities. I’m a little bashful, but it was quite beneficial to me.
The crew supported me and made me feel at ease and at home
On a batting-friendly wicket in Pune, Deepti Sharma won the toss and ordered the Supernovas to bat first. Dottin and Priya Punia batted first and set up a 73-run partnership in 9.3 overs until the latter handed up her wicket to Simran Bahadur for 28 runs off 29 balls.
