Wimbledon organizers respond to question about Russian admittance

The head of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) Scott Lloyd said that the decision on the admission of Russian and Belarusian tennis players to Wimbledon has not yet been taken. According to Lloyd, the organization is currently continuing to discuss the issue.

Earlier there were rumors that the Russians, including World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, might not be allowed to the tournament. Lloyd acknowledged that there are various options, but a final decision has not yet been made.

“It’s an incredibly difficult situation. What’s happening in Ukraine is terrible. We are in dialogue with the authorities, with the tennis organizations. And, of course, we understand perfectly the public mood. We are trying to find the best variant to hold tournaments in Britain this summer in accordance with expectations”.
